    THE MASSIFICATION PROCESS IN CHINESE HIGHER EDUCATION

    This paper demonstrates the massification process in higher education using as reference China, which reached in a few years the largest university system in the world. To do this, we present in the theoretical reference the Government intervention and its economic responsibilities, the main challenges of global higher education and the effects of globalization on this level of education. As regards the methodology, this study is designed on the principles of explanatory research, with qualitative approach. Data were collected through documentary and bibliographic research, and subsequently analyzed and interpreted to record the findings that were correlated with other data collected. This research shows at its end how was the expansion of Chinese higher education, which was a elite system and became a mass system, becoming a reference for other nations that also seek to expand this educational level

    BRAZIL, CANADA AND CHINA: A CROSS-COMPARE STUDY OF ITS EDUCATIONAL INDICATORS

    In a globalized world, nations need to follow the development and performance of their peers. Therefore, the study aims to analyze the educatonal indicators in Brazil, Canada and China with the goal to identify the behavior of these indicators as a way to signal benchmarking and learning opportunities for the Brazilian government based on the results of these countries. For that, a descriptive quantitative research was performed, through the collection of documentary and bibliographic data from databases worldwide. In order to understand the performance of the educational indicators from the countries, a comparative analysis by regression models via log-linear Quasi-Likelihood method was carried out. The goal was to understand the performance of each indicators in their countries in order to understand their behavior in the 2003-2012 period. The conclusions showed that Canada is a country that has already achieved a high level of development, including its higher education, and that can be considered a reference for other nations seeking to achieve similar progress as Brazil and China itself. In addition, China, a member of BRICS, which is a pair of Brazil, has been able to achieve satisfactory results in the indicators that guide higher education, which highlighted the advantages of conducting a benchmarking of their actions and policies

    Efficiency of Public Policies for Higher Education: the Case of People's Republic of China

    This research performs the analysis of the main public policies for higher education in People's Republic of China between the period from 2003 to 2012, starting from a gap to be explored concerning the proposition of new public policies to assist in financing higher education worldwide, taking as reference practices already carried out in other country. When it comes to the methodological procedures, the study was designed as exploratory e quantitative, in which a group of public policies were statistically analyzed, using as reference the compound annual growth rate (CAGR), taking into account the investment made and the number of students attended in the period, in order to check the efficiency of each policy. The results showed a series of possibilities to promote the advancement of higher education worldwide, with examples of policies that can be replicated to other nations, and, therefore, assist them in their development

    Este artigo faz um levantamento dos projetos de expansão da educação superior no Brasil, realizado pelo governo federal, em que se descreve o escopo do projeto - segundo o governo - e apresenta críticas dos programas. O presente artigo segue a metodologia de pesquisa descritiva nos moldes documental e/ou bibliográfico dado que se pautou pela aquisição de conhecimento a partir do emprego predominante de informações advindas das mais variáveis formas. Tem-se com isso o objetivo de entender como a expansão do ensino superior esta sendo feita no país. Além das críticas, nota-se que há uma preocupação por parte do governo brasileiro em melhorar e aumentar o acesso ao ensino superior. Porém, vale ressaltar que os referidos programas devem ser frequentemente aprimorados sob a penalidade de deixarem de atender ao seu objetivo

    A UAB tem por objetivo suprir uma demanda educacional do país, por meio da democratização da educação. Contudo, há uma discussão entre a efetividade destes programas, mais especificamente sobre os aspectos quantitativos e qualitativos do programa. Diante deste contexto, o artigo teve como objetivo apresentar uma análise critica sobre a UAB. Em relação ao método, a pesquisa foi classificada como exploratória, com uma abordagem qualitativa, sendo ainda classificada como documental e bibliográfica. Os resultados apontam que a expansão da educação superior a distância no Brasil cumpre um importante papel social, porém é necessário que esta expansão seja feita com qualidade. Além do mais, deve se conceder maior ênfase na avaliação das Tutorias e na equipe multidisciplinar responsável pela condução deste processo

    Accurate Extraction of Equivalent Circuit Parameters of Spiral Resonators for the Design of Metamaterials

    Spiral resonators (SRs) are one of the most common typologies of resonant magnetic unit cell for the realization of metamaterials. The precise knowledge of their lumped electric properties (RLC parameters) is of crucial importance in the metamaterial design. Thus, an accurate and unambiguous procedure for estimating the value of the RLC lumped parameters of compact SRs is introduced. The proposed procedure relies on a rigorous approach allowing a complete characterization of SRs also in terms of Q-factor. The method is general and valid for other shapes of resonators. The estimations have been finally verified by performing measurements on fabricated SRs through a magnetic probe

Por conta dos diferentes sistemas de ensino em que estão inseridas as Instituições de Ensino Superior estrangeiras e das inúmeras dificuldades apontadas, conclui-se que o assunto merece aprofundamento de estudos na busca de soluções alternativas que favoreçam o processo, tornando-o mais ágil e seguro
